Garden of Eden
Using basic knives and apples, students will learn how to create a simple stop motion animation and discuss its various stages.
Arnab Chaudhuri (India)
Born in India, filmmaker and animator Arnab Chaudhuri worked for nearly two decades on various TV channels before becoming Director of Content and Creative Strategy at Walt Disney Television International India. Awarded numerous prizes over the years, Chaudhuri has reached a critical step in his career with Arjun: The Prince Warrior (2012) – his first motion picture for the cinema. Currently working on an sequel called “Circle of Fire”.
Working in Television
Using his own work of the past two decades, Arnab will help students and others interested in joining the animation industry understand how animators fit into the broadcasting side by featuring various promos and discussing the approach companies such as Disney and Cartoon Network take when creating commercials.
The Making of: Arjun, the Warrior Prince
They will be taking a look behind the scenes; students will focus on the basics aspects of character and production design that went into the making of Arjun, The Warrior Prince.
Georges Schwizgebel (Switzerland)
Georges Schwizgebel was studying to be a graphic designer in the early 60′s, he discovered animation at the nearby Annecy festival. In 1970, he founded Studio GDS with his friends Claude Luyet and Daniel Suter. Spending more and more time on making his own films, he continued to work as a graphic artist and illustrator for another decade before animation became his full-time occupation.
The Process of Animating
Explaining the staples of his work, Georges demonstrates the importance of cycles, movement and music in animation as well as the metamorphosis of images that are extracted from various films to create an animation.
Rao Heidmets (Estonia)
Is an animation director. Rao graduated from the Tallinn Technical University Electroenergetics Faculty as an engineer engineer of electric networks and systems.
After finishing University in 1982, he changed his career and went to the ‘TallinnFilm” studios to make animated films. At first as animator and from 1983 as film director.
In this workshop, students will learn to analyze and apply the various theories behind animation to several examples. They will also go behind the scenes with “Coming of Oracle”, “Inherent Obligations” and “Instinct.”
Lilit Beglarian (USA)
Lilit Beglarian born on 1991, is a concept designer from Los Angeles. She has worked several years as a freelance concept artist and has been teaching Design at Tumo, Creative Center of Technologies. Her works mainly focus on Character and Production design.
Prop and Concept Design
The core of Prop Design is to teach students to use their technical skills to think through and create various design solutions for the industry. Students will use logic, research and references to solve prompts given to them by the instructor and present them at the end of the workshop.
