Annecy Program

Tiziana LoschiAnimation is a great communication medium, and, although already over one hundred years old, it isn’t showing any signs of wrinkles! On the contrary, over the years animation has proved how up to date it really is. Whether using traditional or innovating techniques or coming from countries with modest means or those with state-of-the-art resources, this incredible field of expression keeps on going through the inspiration of animators from all backgrounds.
The International Animation Film Festival has been taking place in Annecy for almost 50 years and became an annual event in 1998. It is a must-visit for international creative artists, producers, broadcasters, financers, teachers and assistance tool makers from over fifty countries to exchange ideas and find the ideal working partnership.
The event pays tribute to this talent by showing off creative work to visiting professionals and animation fans. Out of some 2,000 films received, around 250 are chosen for the competition’s official selection and screened throughout the week alongside programmes of films on a diverse range of subjects. 2010 marks Annecy’s 50th anniversary and gives the perfect occasion to see or see again remarkable films from animation Masters or young talents, gathered together in positive artistic harmony.
It gives us great pleasure to associate with ReAnimania with this programme that shows off the first years of the Annecy Festival, and illustrates the great variety and imagination that can be found in animated films.
I wish everyone an enjoyable moment and much luck to the festival.
