In March, 1939 the first Armenian animation film, “The Dog and the Cat” was premiered at the “Pioneer” movie theater. This exciting event was the initiation of Armenian Animation. Beginning with Lev Atamanov and Vladimir Sutyev the craft of animation in Armenia was refined and passed on to Valentin Podpomogov and Raphael Babayan then further developed by Stepan Andranikyan and Robert Sahakynts who continue to be guiding mentors for the current and upcoming generation of Armenian animators. We celebrated the launching of the ReAnimania Festival in Yerevan, Armenia on October 3rd, 2009. |
