General Director of Golden Apricot International Film Festival

Harutyun Khachatryan was born in 09.01.1955 in Akhalkalak (Georgia). After graduating from the Film Department of Cultural Faculty of the Armenian State Pedagogical University in 1981, he began to work as an assistant director and film-director at the Armenian Documentary Studio and later - at Hayfilm/Armenfilm Studio. He is the author of 12 films (including documentaries and features) which were presented to different international Film Festivals.His films won many prizes at various International film festivals.

He was awarded by State Premium of Armenia in 2003 and in 2004 he was a co-founder and General Director of Yerevan Int'l Film Festival GOLDEN APRICOT. He has been Meritorious Artiste of the Republic of Armenia and voting Member of European Film Academy since 2006. Harutyun Khachatryan received Prince Claus Fund Award (Nethelands, 2007), Medal of “Movses Khorenatsi” (by Armenian Government, 2008), CHEVALIER DE L'ORDRE DES ARTS ET DE LETTRES (by Ministry of Culture and Communications of French Republic, 2008).
